Living has taken the
Rhythm of the ocean tides;
Ever constant, ever-flowing
Whose pace cannot be
forced, controlled, stifled or rushed.
A rising of learning,
A retreat of healing
A rising of growing,
A retreat of being.
Each cycle presenting and releasing
Old and new offerings to digest… or not if chosen.
And when the storm brews and winds of life
Disrupt this sweet synchronicity,
I will seek comfort amongst the
chaos, thrashing, unpredictability
In finding the same rhythm of
My breath,
My heart’s beat,
And knowing the peace will return.

About the poet:
I am from the Cincinnati, Ohio area and am a current Teacher for the Visually Impaired, working for a local non-profit. I enjoy writing, the outdoors, staying active, and keeping up with my young children. Learning how to embrace and find joy/peace in this life we have to live!
